Erik Jaap Pothast is a German-born photographer, now living in the Netherlands. With a strong visual sensibility and a documentary-style approach, Erik has developed a distinctive body of work that reflects both quiet observation and emotional depth.
Driven by a deep passion for photography and the Leica tradition, Erik works primarily with Leica M, SL and Q systems. His work has been featured amongst others in Leica Fotografie International (LFI) – a recognition that underscores his commitment to authenticity, precision, and storytelling through imagery.
Over the years, Erik has built a portfolio that includes portraits, concert photography, and personal projects focused on everyday moments and human connection. Rather than approaching photography as a commercial endeavor, he sees it as an ongoing exploration – one that is deeply personal yet universally resonant.
If you’re interested in Erik’s work, wish to discuss a project, publication, or simply want to exchange thoughts on photography, feel free to reach out.
